DUPR

DISCOVERY

What is a DUPR Discovery Session?

Our DUPR Discovery Sessions are designed for players who don't yet have a DUPR rating but are interested in obtaining a provisional one.

Unlike subjective evaluations, this rating is based on objective data. The evaluation tools used follow the DUPR rubric system, which measures how well a player performs specific shots and skills across all aspects of the game. The system analyzes performance and automatically calculates a rating based on execution, not opinions.

This provisional rating serves as a starting point for a player's DUPR journey and becomes more refined as additional match data is collected.

What is a provisional DUPR rating?

A provisional DUPR rating is an initial, estimated skill rating given to players who are new to the DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) system. It serves as a starting point until the player has competed in enough matches to establish a more accurate, permanent rating.

  • Based on limited data: It's calculated after just a few matches, so it's not as reliable as a fully established rating.

  • Temporary: As the player plays more rated matches, the system updates the rating and removes the "provisional" status once enough data is collected.

  • Allows fairer matchups: Even as a provisional rating, it helps tournament directors and leagues place players in more balanced games.

In short, it’s a way for new players to enter the DUPR system and start tracking their progress.

What is the cost?

The cost is $45 per person for a one-hour session.

What is the format?

1-hour group session (max 4 players), evaluated in doubles format by a certified DUPR coach. Each player will be individually assessed on 18 criteria such as shot selection, court positioning, partner chemistry, and technical proficiency.

Please note, this event requires 4 players to run.

How do I sign up?

These sessions are data-driven and not based on personal opinion, your results come directly from the performance metrics collected during play
